The team were called by North Yorkshire Police after a 13yo Springer Spaniel fell down a pothole near Great Douk cave. The owners could see the dog but were unable to retrieve it themselves. A small team was assembled at the Depot to gather required equipment and a vehicle, and the duty controller went to the scene to assess the incident. Just as the controller arrived on scene, a passer by brought the dog up to the surface. Other than an open gash to his flank, the dog was none the worse for its tumble. The team were stood down and the owners assisted in finding a vet to treat the animal.
