An expeditioner (f,15) sustained an ankle injury while walking on a footpath over Dean Moor to the North East of Langscar Gate. Fortunately, two of the supervisory staff were members of other mountain rescue teams, so they splinted the injury, gave pain relief and sheltered the casualty in an expedition tent while calling CRO through North Yorkshire Police. Team members carried and ‘sledged’ the casualty to Langscar Gate, where she was transferred to the group’s vehicle for the journey to hospital and further treatment.
This was in the heaviest rain the area has enjoyed for several months
Volunteer hours: 29
Footnote: The supervisor who went to hospital with the patient provided an up-date, later in the day. She had suffered a soft tissue injury and, thankfully, there was no fracture.
