INCIDENT 62/2024 THURS AUGUST 29th 12.11hrs. WHARFE WOOD, FEIZOR, NORTH YORKSHIRE

We were alerted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with a walker (F, 76) who had fallen and injured herself on the walk through Wharfe Wood, above Feizor and Austwick. With assistance from some other walkers who had passed the incident, we were guided to the casualty who had slipped whilst crossing a stile in the woods, injuring her chest and back. Our team doctor and one of of our members, who is a paramedic, were first on scene and administered first aid prior to the attendance of YAS personnel. Due to the potential nature of her injuries, Yorkshire Air Ambulance also attended, although evacuation by helicopter was eventually deemed not necessary. After treatment and packaging the walker was stretchered back to the waiting team vehicles at Feizor Nick track and subsequently taken in a team vehicle down to Feizor, where she was transferred to a YAS ambulance for onward transfer to hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery.
