INCIDENT 30/2021 – JUNE 9th WED. 20.47 – PILLAR HOLES, NEWBY MOSS, INGLEBOROUGH, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT

A walker observed a sheep in the bottom of the entrance shaft of one of the Pillar Holes and e-mailed the CRO Secretary, asking whether he knew who the farmer was and whether he could be contacted to investigate. The following morning, a small party of CRO members went to investigate and, walking along the line of shafts, found a lamb in Fluted Hole and another in one of the Pillar Holes, as described. Both were rescued and turned onto the fell, apparently unharmed.
