INCIDENT 21/2023 APR. 22nd SAT. 18.30 NR PENNINE WAY, ROUGH HILL, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE, MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A group of three Three Peaks walkers reported themselves exhausted, saying that one (m, 23) ‘can not move’. Although apparently placed near the junction of the Three Peaks permissive path with the Pennine Way, near Rough Hill (They were reversing the ‘usual’ route.), their position could not be confirmed by text or voice call, so had to be assumed to be correct – or almost so. While one member drove CRO 4 (Honda Pioneer) up the Pennine Way, two others drove CRO 3 (Land Rover 130) to High Birkwith, then one continued on foot. He found the party, including the walker incapacitated by cramp. The team vehicles returned the walkers to Horton, before continuing back to CRO Base.
