The team were called by North Yorkshire Police (NYP) to a lost walker (m,14) who was doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks and had become separated from his group, was unsure where he was, and had a nearly flat phone battery. From the description given of his location, the Duty Controller had a good idea of where to find him so initially a small team was deployed to collect him, however on arrival he was not found in the vicinity of the location described and further information also came in regarding his age, as a result of which we immediately deployed the full team for a more extensive search.
Whilst the foot search of all tracks in the area was getting underway we heard from the missing walker’s mother that he had turned up back in Horton having been given a lift there from a member of the public who he had asked for assistance at the bunkbarn we initially thought he was near.
