NYP passed on what information they could glean from a broken call from a party of three walkers who said they were so cold that they feared the onset of hypothermia on the descent from the hill they were on. Data from the mobile phone company gave a grid reference which matched the descent path from Whernside. On listening again, NYP believed that they were walking the Three Peaks. Team members were on their way and some had reached the RV point at the foot of Whernside, when the group called the Police to say that they were safely in a car, on their way home. All stood down.
