On a wet and overcast day on the Ingleton waterfalls walk, a 73 year old man slipped off the path – falling and tumbling about 20 metres down into the river Doe near to Snow Falls. The man was reported to us as being up to his waist in the water, able to talk, but unable to get out of the water. Before CRO had arrived, officers from North Yorkshire Police had been able to scramble down to the river and helped the man to the waters edge. The man was checked over by a paramedic volunteering for CRO, before being placed in a stretcher for extraction from his position. CRO team members rigged ropes to lift and haul the stretcher and man back up to the path. Also on scene and helping: North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, North West Ambulance Service.
