An in-lamb ewe was reported to be stranded on a ledge at Ingleton’s former limestone quarry. A text trawl of team members showed insufficient volunteers for the afternoon, so the rescue was planned for that evening. However . . . . .

Incident 15/2016 – Mar. 23rd Wed. 13:38 – Meal Bank Quarry, Ingleton, North Yorkshire – Animal Rescue
The team were called to a sheep reportedly stuck on a ledge, above the quarry. A team of four members attended, and as they began to descend, the sheep (the same sheep from last week?) performed the same self rescue action, and returned to the field. Until next time… Volunteer hours: 4
Incident 12/2016 – Mar. 15th Tue. 10:42 – Meal Bank Quarry, Ingleton – Animal Rescue
The team were called by a farmer, concerned for a ewe in lamb, which had become stranded on a ledge on the quarry face. A small party abseiled down to the ledge from above, and were able to encourage the sheep to ‘self rescue’ up the craggy gully down which she had approached the ledge. Volunteer hours:12
