ROAD CLOSURE – HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE – CLARIFICATION

For those of our readers who are visitors to Ribblesdale, please be aware that the B6479 is closed to all traffic at the southerly of the two road bridges near The Crown, in Horton in Ribblesdale. The closure is posted for the remainder of November and to 2nd December.

As the initial signs at Bridge End, Settle and the B6479/ B6255 junction at Ribblehead stated simply that the road was closed except for access, it might be helpful to clarify just how far you can drive. From Settle, you can drive as far as the YDNPA car park and toilets in Horton. To reach The Crown or the railway station you’ll have to walk across the footbridge. From Ribblehead, you can drive as far as The Crown or up to New Houses, Birkwith etc.. You can reach the toilets on foot or complete the Three Peaks walk, again using the footbridge.

Your driving route between Settle and Selside or Ribblehead will be via Ingleton. If the road is re-opened before the statutory closure period ends, we’ll keep you posted. It could have been worse for motorists; the original closure was planned for high Summer.
