INCIDENT 89/2023 DEC 17TH SUN. 12.15 NORBER SCAR, CRUMMACKDALE, AUSTWICK, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Prior to an official call from North Yorkshire Police, the Team were alerted by friends of an injured fell runner (M, 51yrs) who had slipped and hurt his ankle. Fortunately, one of our Team members was nearby and was able to offer assistance. The Team were mobilised, and the official callout from NYP was received. Team members made to the scene and were able to splint the man’s ankle and provide a warm Casualty Bag. Our Honda Pioneer vehicle was able to get to the scene itself and the casualty was able to ride off the hill in the vehicle. He was taken to friends in Austwick nearby, where he was later collected by his partner and taken to hospital. He has since told us that, unfortunately, he does have a fracture but we wish him a speedy recovery. Our thanks to our friends at Crummackdale Farm for their permission to access their land with our vehicle. We do appreciate the help of our local farming community.
