A runner in the Three Peaks Race (f, 50) sprained an ankle on the descent from Pen y ghent towards High Birkwith and was understood to be ‘one mile from Birkwith’. In the belief that she was on the Sell Gill to Greenfield bridleway, two team members drove the team’s Honda Pioneer along that route, but then Race Control was informed that she was just above High Birkwith Farm. Two more members collected her from near the farm in a team Land Rover, returning her to Race Control.
