Undeterred by her experience on Whernside the previous day and underestimating the challenge, particularly of the descent, a walker reached the summit of Ingleborough but felt unable to begin the rocky descent. A passer-by called for help and a small team drove up Fell Lane, Ingleton, to Crina Bottom. They continued on foot and were delighted to find that three other walkers had selflessly supported the lady down over the first and worst part of the descent. Our members took over, providing support down to the team vehicle. While on the drive down to Storrs Common, a taxi was requested to take the walker to her accommodation.
Our thanks to the ‘other walkers’ and to Settle Taxis for their prompt service. The Yorkshire Dales is open and welcoming to all, but it’s important to know your personal limits and remember that there are many local guiding companies available if you or a friend should need that bit of extra help to achieve your goals. Don’t wait till it’s too late!
