INCIDENT 63/2023 JUL. 29th SAT. 18.40 PEN Y GHENT, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A walker ( stated as f, 14) believed she had ‘a fractured foot’, soon after leaving Pen y ghent summit on the descent towards Hull Pot. A few minutes later, as team members were being called out, a second call was received to a male walker of the same age, also on Pen y ghent, but with a ‘fractured/broken ankle’ and with the nearest location of Brackenbottom. A phone call to the number for this apparent second incident established that the two were, in fact, for the same person, who was making his way, carefully, down ‘the miners’ track’. Some members were stood down, but a small group drove to the top of Horton Scar Lane in a Land Rover and the Honda Pioneer. The latter continued up the path to meet the walker and companion, returning them to their accommodation in Horton.
