INCIDENT 50/2019 – June 25th. Tue. 10.46hrs – Meal Bank Quarry, Ingleton, North Yorkshire – Animal Incident

A local farmer reported that one of his sheep and her two lambs were stuck on a ledge at the former quarry at Meal Bank, near Ingleton. He had spotted them there on Saturday and hoped that they would be motivated to find their own way down when they had eaten all the grass on their ledge. Three CRO personnel accessed the quarry face on foot and by rope; their manoeuvring as shepherds was guided by radio by another team member and the farmer located below the quarry face. The sheep and lambs were eventually coaxed into following a series of steep ramps and ledges off the quarry face and to safety.
