The team were called out by North Yorkshire Police to assist with a casualty (F 15 YO) who had sustained a lower leg injury whilst descending from the summit of Ingleborough as part of her DofE expedition. The CRO duty controller (DC) spoke to the well equipped/prepared casualty party to ascertain the nature of the injury and gather enough information in order to come up with suitable rescue plan. Team members were deployed in CRO2, CRO3 & CRO4 onto Simon Fell Breast. CRO4 made its’ way to as close to the casualty site as possible and then team members made their way onwards on foot. After an assessment by a team Remote Rescue Medical Technician (RRMT), the casualty was provided with pain relief and her ankle was splinted. The resilient young casualty was then able to make her way, with assistance from team members, down to the waiting CRO4 where she was then transferred back down to our Depot in Clapham for further transfer back to her DofE campsite in Horton in Ribblesdale.
We wish the casualty well, thank her for saving us a stretcher carry, and hope to see her back in the hills very soon.
