The team were called out by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to a walker (m approx 60) who was experiencing a medical event whilst walking on the summit ridge of Whernside. Team members were deployed to initially RV at Ribblehead viaduct before making their way up to the casualty location. A YAS Double Crewed Ambulance (DCA) was also deployed to the same RV. Whilst CRO team members were making their way to the casualty site, Yorkshire Air Ambulance Helimed 99 (HM99) was able to land near the casualty site, and after an initial assessment, transfer the casualty to the aircraft and transported them down to the RV at ribblehead for further assessment (due to deteriorating weather conditions on the hill). After further assessment, the decison was then made to transport the casualty to hospital in HM99 rather than the DCA. All CRO team members were stood down to return to the RV and then back to the depot.
As always, we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
