The team were called to a walker with a knee injury (m,17) in Crummack Dale. The team mobilised, but were quickly stood down whilst en route, as the casualty’s companions informed North Yorkshire Police that they had assisted the injured male off the fell, and would transport him to hospital themselves.
Some team members had already arrived at the rendezvous point, including a team doctor, who decided after assessing the casualty that he required immediate splintage and pain relief for a severely dislocated knee. The casualty was taken to the CRO depot for treatment, before being transferred by ambulance to hospital. The group were also given advice on the best course of action to take with a seriously injured casualty. Volunteer hours 20.
