ALERT only. AUGUST 1st TUE. 23.34 hrs. PEN Y GHENT or INGLEBOROUGH? NORTH YORKSHIRE. ALERT No 7 OF 2023

A ringing smartphone

A caller gave North Yorkshire Police the number of a walker (m) described as ‘stuck’ with two children, aged 6 and 9. The caller had left them on Pen y ghent and had since had no contact. They were to complete Pen y ghent and then go on to Ingleborough. The reporting person believed they could be stuck as, if the children tired, the adult would be unable to carry them.

The duty controller put the team on stand-by and tried to call the number given, getting through on one of the repeated attempts. The people about whom the caller had been concerned were in their car, on the way home, so the team was stood down.
