Incident 36/2018 – Jun. 4th Mon 18.52 Malham Cove, Malham, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A walker was reported to have broken an ankle, about half-way up the steps to the top of Malham Cove. Two YAS ambulance technicians were on scene when CRO members arrived. The patient was given pain-relief and had his injured leg splinted, before being put into a vacuum mattress and onto a stretcher. Having dealt with incidents 25 and 26, whilst team members were sorting equipment in the visitor centre car park, the duty controller was approached by 2 walkers seeking advice. Whilst dealing with incident 25, the team were asked to assist a girl in a school party who had slipped on the limestone pavement, injuring her right ankle. A team casualty carer assessed the injury and strapped it up, before transporting the student and a teacher in a team vehicle, to their own transport in Malham village. Incident 25/2018 – May 23rd Wed. 12.52 Malham Cove, Malham, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

The Team were called by North Yorkshire Police to a walker (f) who had slipped and injured her ankle on the steps on the left side of Malham Cove. On arrival, team casualty carers splinted the injury and placed her in a stretcher, before sledging her down to a team vehicle at the bottom of the cove. She was then transported to a waiting road ambulance for transfer to hospital.…
