Incident 27/2018 – May 26th Sat. 16.29 Giggleswick Scar, Giggleswick, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A climber, (male) slipped and fell on the ‘Titter ye not’ pitch at Giggleswick Scar, sustaining a severe injury to his left lower leg as he hit the ground. On arrival, team members escorted the YAS paramedics to the scene, and assisted whilst emergency pain relief was administered. The casualty was then splinted and packaged for a lower by stretcher to the road below, down a steep, wooded scree slope.

At the road, the casualty was transferred to a road ambulance for transport to hospital. Thanks to our YAS colleagues for providing casualty care, and to North Yorkshire Police who provided safety protection for team members on a busy road with blind summits and bends.
