DESCRIPTION:<p>Following a particulary protracted rescue&nbsp\;of an injured&nbsp\;caver from&nbsp\;Gingling Hole a meeting was held on 24th November 1934 by a number of senior caving clubs. They agreed to set up a cave rescue organisation based on Settle\; rescue wardens were appointed and liaison with the Police and St John's Ambulance established. The <b>CRO</b> became operational early in 1935\, the first volunteer cave rescue&nbsp\;team in the country\, possibly the world.&nbsp\;</p>
