Goodbye 2021!

Better a couple of days late than not at all, here is an instant summary of 2021. A full and illustrated account of CRO’s year will appear in Rescue 2022, to be published in March.  We shall also be running a new safety campaign in the Spring, so ‘Watch this space!’. With 89 incidents (4 fatal) and 11 ‘alerts’ (Call received, but resolved without outdoor action.), 2021 was a reasonably ‘normal’…

INCIDENT 79 (continued) – OCTOBER 23rd SAT. – GT. & LT. WHERNSIDE (COVERDALE / UPPER NIDDERDALE)

Seven team members returned to the Great and Little Whernside area, this time into Coverdale. They joined a concerted effort to find the missing walker by MRTs from across North and West Yorkshire and search dogs from across northern England from the Lake District to the Peak District. Despite this massive effort over wet and rough terrain, the walker has still not been found. Volunteer hours:  60 (CRO members only)…

INCIDENT 79 (continued) – OCTOBER 20th WED. – KETTLEWELL AREA, UPPER WHARFEDALE

Eleven team members returned to Upper Wharfedale to continue the search for the missing walker. The local team (UWFRA) was also supported by NYP Police Search Advisors, RAF, Swaledale and Calder Valley teams and air assets, together with local farmers and gamekeepers. INCIDENT 17/2021 – May 15th Sat. 13.12 – Path across the head of The Allotment, Ingleborough, North Yorkshire. – Mountain Incident

A walker (f, 58) fell on the path from Simon Fell Breast to Sulber Nick, on Ingleborough, sustaining a deep gash just below her knee-cap. The call was originally sent to Swaledale MRT, but they transferred the call to CRO as soon as the location was clarified.  The team’ s Honda Pioneer was driven from near Clapham almost to the patient, while two Land Rovers, with more members, went via…
