A competitor (m, 44) in the Spine Challenger ultra-marathon event (along the Pennine Way from Edale to Hawes, in one go) collapsed at Comb Hill, just above the head of Watlowes (a.k.a. ‘The Dry Valley’), North of Malham. INCIDENT 02/2022 – JANUARY 2nd SUN. 18.21  PEN-Y-GHENT, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A walker reported himself as having being lost and cold, for over an hours duration, in darkness, somewhere on Pen-y-Ghent. Although he was unsure of his location, the walker had been able to respond to a “phone find” text message which enabled CRO to see that his likely position was midway between Plover Hill and the summit of Pen-y-Ghent. INCIDENT 01/2022 – JANUARY 1st SAT. 11.29  NR. INGLEBOROUGH CAVE, CLAPHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – LOCAL INCIDENT

A local worker was undertaking tree work, within the dry gill, near to the entrance of Ingleborough Cave. Whilst walking across the site, he lost his footing and slipped down a steep grassy slope and over the edge of a small vertical crag – sliding and falling about 10 metres in total.
